MEET THE DESIGNER

Like a lot of brides, I wanted a wedding that was the perfect balance of modern style and traditional touches. For me, that began with my invitation. As a graphic designer for newspapers and magazines, I decided it was up to me to create a wedding invitation that reflected my own design sensibilities and style. Since then, there has been no going back. With a strong background in layout and typography, and a commitment to impeccable customer service, I am confident that I can help you set the tone for your own wedding or special event. I look forward to working with you!

Sarah Shepler, owner & designer

THE CONSULTATION

During our first meeting, we will determine a creative direction for your invitation or project based on your ideas, style and budget. Fabric swatches, pictures from magazines and favorite colors are great sources of inspiration. Be prepared to discuss the quantity of stationery pieces needed as well as the information you would like to convey to your guests. Meeting in person at our Columbus studio will allow you to see samples of our custom work and to look through several catalogs of ready-made designs.

Once an overall concept has been established, a price quote will be e-mailed, faxed or mailed to you within 2-3 business days. For custom designs, prices and turnaround times will vary based on the intricacy of the design, the papers selected and the printing process. Rush orders can be placed at an additional cost.

DESIGN TIME LINE

Wedding invitation design generally begins 2-3 months in advance of when you need to receive the invitations. Keep in mind, wedding invitations are typically sent in the mail 6-8 weeks prior to the event. Designs for wedding day items such as ceremony programs, seating cards, menus, etc., will take place in the months and weeks leading up to your wedding, as the details are often finalized just before the event.

Catalog Invitations: Once you have made your selection from one of our books, we help guide you through the proper etiquette and wording for your ensemble. Next we place your invitation order and request a proof. Please note that for catalog invitations the proof is a black and white pdf which we will e-mail you to approve. Proofs take around 3 business days. Upon approval of your proofs, they will be printed and shipped to our office for you to pick up. Shipping and production is approximately 2 weeks.

Custom Invitation Designs: After your initial consultation, we can create a complete invitation mock-up which includes the use of your selected papers, fonts and design elements. This process takes approximately 2 weeks and requires an initial deposit of $75. Once we complete your sample, you may come in to the studio to review it and have the opportunity to make revisions to the layout and paper. Once your selections have been approved, a deposit of 50% is due to place the order for your paper in full. After all revisions to your layouts are made and you have approved your invitations to be printed, please allow 3-4 weeks for printing and assembly (if required).

PROOFING

We provide up to 3 rounds of digital proofs for each item that is being designed and printed. You will have the opportunity to give feedback and make changes to your layouts and wording. If more rounds of proofing are required, additional fees will apply. It will be your responsibility to review and confirm that every design detail is to your satisfaction, including the spelling, grammar and punctuation. Only after your final approval is received will the designs be sent to print.

ASSEMBLY AND GUEST ADDRESSING

Most of our custom projects come in pieces and parts, which means that ribbons must be tied, layers mounted or crystals glued. So Inviting Designs does provide assembly services.
